From snake bites to stage fumbles, there has been plenty of drama surrounding the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards…and the show hasn’t even started yet. The latest incident involves Suge Knight who was shot during a pre-VMA party at 10AK nightclub in Los Angeles on early Sunday (Aug. 23).
According to TMZ, the former rap mogul was shot multiple times — once in the stomach and arm and other places — by an unknown assailant.
Surprisingly, Knight walked outside of the club on his own volition and was transported to a local hospital. He was then quickly rushed into surgery. Family members have told TMZ that Knight is currently in the ICU and is expected to recover.
According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, two men and a woman were also shot in the incident. “They were transported to local hospitals and they are expected to recover,” a police rep told People.
There were various celebrities in attendance at the Chris Brown-hosted party including Justin Bieber and model Tyson Beckford.
Prior to the shooting, rapper Game and his entourage got into a skirmish with the club’s security guards after the rapper was denied entry into the party.
On Sunday (Aug. 24), Brown went on Twitter to denounce the violence that occurred at the event.
Ironically, this is the second time Knight has been shot during a pre-VMA party. In 2008 Knight was shot in the leg at a Kanye West-hosted Pre-VMA event in Miami Beach, Fla.
It’s safe to say that Knight should avoid these pre-VMA shindigs for health reasons. Nevertheless, we wish him a speedy recovery.
