Kendrick Lamar, Iggy Azalea Rock Made In America Festival in Los Angeles [VIDEO]

This year, the Budweiser Made In America festival was held simultaneously in two cities — one in Philadelphia and another in Los Angeles’ Grand Park. On Saturday (Aug. 30), Kendrick Lamar and Iggy Azalea performed in front of a packed crowd of 35,000 fans.

K.Dot was part of an ensemble performance of the rap label Top Dawg Entertainment. Rappers ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and Isaiah Rashad performed several tracks from their respective catalogues during the 75-minute set.

According to the Los Angeles Daily News, Q was the main highlight as he performed tracks from his ‘Oxymoron’ album.

Lamar closed out the set as he took concertgoers on a musical journey of his hometown of Compton. The TDE rhymer performed a medley of songs from his celebrated album ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’ as well as tunes from ‘Section.80′ and early mixtape tracks. He even brought out Q for a turnt-up rendition of ‘Collard Greens.’

“There’s a lot of TDE fans out here and it’s a beautiful thing,” he told the roaring crowd.

Taka Hayashi x Vault by Vans 'Sea Life' Pack

Hypebeast

If Steve Zissou was an actual person and got tapped for a Vans sneaker collaboration chances are his ‘Life Aquatic’ would have been interpreted as this ‘Sea Life’ Pack. With four colorways crafted this sneaker set boasts enough personality to portray a healthy portion of the cast.

The Vans Sk8-Hi and Vans Authentic are the stars of this story and each one gets treated with a floral print canvas panel that depicts sea creatures and fauna along with tonal print suede accents. The two silhouettes are given two colorways apiece and with names as vibrant as Russet Orange and Still Water listed among them this pack definitely packs a punch.

Look for each of them to hit Vans retailers sometime in September and get your red skully ready as well. That last part only counts if you’ve actually seen the movie ‘The Life Aquatic‘.

Luke James Gets Naked in 'Dancing In the Dark' Video

R&B singer Luke James gets completely naked in his new video for ‘Dancing in the Dark.’ The song is from his upcoming self-titled album which hits stores next month.

In the dark and sensual clip, we see Luke clothed as he gets intimate with some beautiful women. It’s not long after he and and his two love interests stripped down to their birthday suits behind a backdrop of a full moon.

Speaking of moons, we have to tagged this video NSFW because there are plenty of butt shots of Luke and the two ladies, plus a nipple and sideboob as well. So it’s better to err on the side of caution when playing this video in the workplace — we are just saying.

Co-directed by Yolande Geralds and James, himself, the video marks the crooner’s second time behind the camera following his directorial debut with the ‘Options‘ clip. If this music thing doesn’t work out, we think James has a bright future as a director.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old singer recently unveiled the cover art and tracklist to his new album. The collection, which features his soulful reworking of Sam Smith’s ‘Stay with Me,’ is due out on Sept. 23.

Troy Ave, 'BSB Vol. 5′ [MIXTAPE REVIEW]

BSB Records For the better part of the past decade, much has been said about New York’s underwhelming crop of up-and-coming rappers. Aside from 50 Cent’s decade-plus rise to prominence and Nicki Minaj’s queenly reign in rap, NYC hasn’t produced a dominant mainstream rap figure in ages.

Brooklyn rhymer and BSB Records leader Troy Ave is the latest spitter out of the Big Apple that media outlets such as XXL and MTV have placed their bets on as the one to watch. Looking to build upon his solid 2013 project ‘New York City: The Album,’ Troy Ave rounds up his fellow BSB cronies Young Lito, King Sevin and Avon Blocksdale for his latest mixtape effort, ‘BSB Vol. 5.’

The L.A. Leakers-hosted project starts with the kick-off single ‘Good Time,’ which is produced by Yankee. The song instantly grabs you with its infectious, house party-influenced beat and Troy Ave’s witty quotables.

“Only thing missing is the cheese, know I got that / Buy and sell blocks, Monopoly, no top hat,” he raps.

The BK representer gives his fellow BSB artists some airtime as well. Rappers Young Lito and King Sevin spit bars over Childish Gambino’s ’3005′ beat, while Troy Ave addresses social media hecklers.

“I heard some n—-s called me Troy Average / Well, let me tell you bout the s— average / You n—-s ain’t coming out never, never, never, never! / You’re colder than December driving Jetta’s, Jetta’s, Jetta’s, Jetta’s!” he raps.

Troy Ave calls up some heavy hitters in Diddy, Ma$e, and T.I. for the remix to his latest single, ‘Your Style,’ with winning results. Tip steals the show with his verse, while Diddy and Ma$e give the track a little uptown swagger.

Troy Ave and Young Lito also hijack Bobby Shmurda’s ‘Hot Nigga’ and go for broke with Mr. Powder paying homage to the BK sensation, spitting, “Still watching, ain’t quote Jigga / Should buy a GS 300, wait, switch the figures / Shouts to GS9, BK n—-s / I love my city to shine, you see the way I glitter.”

On ‘Shining All My Life,’ Troy Ave takes shots at Buckshot following his comments in an interview with AllHipHop.com. Other standouts include reworkings of current radio bangers, such as ‘Lifestyle,’ ‘Lonely’ and ‘Cuffin Season.’ Fellow Brooklyn rapper Maino makes an appearance on ‘Something Epic’ while ‘Cheekz’ may be the project’s best track, with its updated version of the beat for Ghostface Killah’s classic, ‘Mighty Healthy.’

In comparison to his earlier mixtapes, Troy Ave is leaps and bounds ahead of where he was musically on ‘BSB Vol. 5.’ Getting his weight up in the lyrical department and infusing some much-needed personality into his sometimes cliche dope boy tales, Harry Powder’s ability has finally begun to catch up to his hype and is indeed one of New York’s top prospects. Another pleasant surprise is the increased presence of Brownsville rep Young Lito, who has emerged as BSB’s next-in-line and a potential breakout star.

Highlights aside, ‘BSB Vol. 5′ isn’t without slight missteps. When the BSB boys attempt to tackle Drake’s ‘The Motion,’ the outcome is clunky to say the least. And while having standout moments of their own on Vol. 5, at times, Avon Blocksdale and King Sevin are still a bit raw and are not ready for prime time quite yet.

Overall, ‘BSB Vol. 5′ may not stack up against landmark mixtapes from previous New York cliques, such as G-Unit and Dipset, but it’s definitely worthy of a listen and intriguing enough for fans to look out for what these from Brooklyn rhymer have in store next.

Kid Cudi Faints While Performing at North Coast Music Festival [VIDEO]

Rapper Kid Cudi gave concertgoers quite a scare when he fainted during his headlining set at the North Coast Music Festival in Chicago on Saturday (Aug. 30).

According to Billboard, while the Cudder was performing his 2009 song ‘Pursuit of Happiness,’ he jumped off the stage and started interacting with the fans in the front row. He then stopped to autograph a sign from one person and then suddenly he fell to the ground. The harrowing incident was all captured on video.

Thankfully, security guards were on hand and they quickly carried Cudi’s limped body backstage for medical treatment.

Afterward, Cudi went on Twitter to inform his fans that he was okay and will be back performing again shortly.

“I’m Okay!” he tweeted. “To everyone who f—ing came out tonight, wow. All the love, Just way too overwhelming.” He then added, “Blessed to have fans who actually give a f— about me.

Cudi also thanked the security team for their assistance and vowed to eat and drink plenty of fluids before a show. He tweeted:

We are happy that Kid Cudi is feeling much better. Let this be a lesson for other performers — stay hydrated when you are on tour.

Kanye West, J. Cole Perform at Made In America Festival 2014 in Philadelphia [VIDEO]

Love him or hate him, when it comes to his stage performance Kanye West doesn’t disappoint. The mercurial rapper closed out the Philadelphia edition of the Budweiser Made In America festival on Saturday (Aug. 30).

Backed by three huge video screens which showed him in various silhouettes, Yeezy rocked the crowd with an array of songs from his vast discography.

Among the highlights of his 90-minute set included him performing ‘Blood on the Leaves’ four times. Each time, West urged the crowd to form posh pits and push each other around. And during his rendition of ‘Runaway,’ Yeezy performed behind a backdrop of a tranquil waterfall.

Of course, no show is complete without a rant from the Chicago rapper.

According to Philly.com, West went on a tangent for 25 minutes during his set. He He called out MTV for making a joke about his career at the VMAs, he talked about interracial dating and the freedom to create art without being criticized.

Afterward, the show became more jubilant as West performed his classic songs from the mid-00′s including ‘Jesus Walks,’ ‘Touch the Sky’ and ‘The Good Life.’ He then ended his set with ‘Bound 2,’ his love ode to his wife Kim Kardashian.

For an encore, West performed ‘Blood on the Leaves’ again and when the clock struck midnight, he dropped the mic and exited the stage.

Although Jay Z was spotted backstage watching his Watch the Throne partner rock the mic, he did not joined him onstage, which is a little disappointing. An impromptu performance of ‘N—-s in Paris’ would have been a great moment for the festival. Also, there were rumors that West would perform a brand new song but, alas, that didn’t happened.

J. ColeAstrid Stawiarz, Getty Images

Earlier in the evening, Roc Nation artist J. Cole graced the stage in front of diehard fans.

Before he kicked off his set, the North Carolina rhymer played ‘Be Free,’ his tribute to Michael Brown, the unarmed teen who was shot and killed by a police officer in Ferguson, Mo. The song played alongside a video montage of various acts of police brutality caught on tape.

Watch J. Cole’s ‘Be Free’ Video at Made In America Festival 2014 in Philadelphia

While the powerful video set a somber mood prior to his set, Cole was able to get the crowd hyped with his own catalogue of hits.

According to MTV News, the rapper dug deep and performed songs from his 2010 mixtape ‘Friday Night Lights’ and ‘Lights Please,’ the demoed song that made Jay Z sign him. Cole also brought out Bas, his flagship artist on Dreamville Records, and performed ‘Lit’ together.

Of course, Cole did ‘Work Out,’ ‘Can’t Get Enough’ and ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ from his debut album ‘Cole World: The Sidelined Story.’ He also performed tracks from his second effort, ‘Born Sinner,’ including ‘Land of the Snakes’ and ‘Crooked Smile.’

Cole finished his set with ‘Power Trip’ where he asked the crowd to sing Miguel’s yearning lyrics, which they obliged him.

Adrien Brody Plays Beats While Souls of Mischief Freestyles on 'Sway in the Morning'

Adrien Brody is known for being an actor but he also makes beats. While promoting his new TV film ‘Houdini’ on ‘Sway in the Morning,’ the Oscar-winning actor displayed his beat-making skills with Souls of Mischief.

Over a myriad of different beats, the Hieroglyphics crew spit crazy freestyles off the top of the head. Brody even received props from his idol, DJ Premier, who was listening to the cipher on the phone.

Later, Opio deliver a fresh freestyle over Brody’s oriental-sounding beat with orgasmic yelps. Finally, the actor played a beat with a downing piano groove and another that sounded like it came from the chambers of the RZA.

Meanwhile, Souls of Mischief dropped a new album ‘There Is Only Now’ earlier this week. The project was produced by Adrian Younge, whose songs have been sampled by Jay Z (‘Picasso Baby’).
