Like they always do about this time, the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B are taking over Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater for the 2014 BET Awards tonight. Following the usual red carpet routine and pre-party preparations, Pharrell was first to grace the stage and get the night officially started.
Backed by a team of high school cheerleaders and neon-lighted rafters, the Grammy-winning star — wearing a slightly more modest hat than usual — delivered a jiggy performance of his ‘G I R L’ album cut, ‘Come Get It Bae.’ Never without a trick up his sleeve, Skateboard P then brought out fellow Virginia native Missy Elliott, who took it back to 2003 with a performance of her hit single, ‘Pass That Dutch.’
