Cafeteria Lady Accused of Stealing Over $1M in Lunch Money



A cafeteria manager suspected of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars over a period of a decade or more has been arrested by Fulton County, GA., police, reports local affiliate Channel 2 Action News.


Channel 2 broke the news when a whistleblower at North Springs High School in Sandy Springs approached them claiming that manager Brenda Watts had been running a cash-only line in the cafeteria for up to 15 years. The unidentified whistleblower claims no records were kept of any transactions in the cash-only line.


The police charge that Watts stole $500 a day. That's $2,500 a week, which is a staggering $90,000 in a school year. Over 15 years, that would be $1,350,000. A


According to the arrest warrants, Watts lives in a five-bedroom, 5,400 square-foot home in south DeKalb County.
