Kanye West Sings to North in ' Only One' Video

After Kanye West released ‘Only One’ earlier this month, he showed us a softer side of him that we don’t get see too often. And now we get to see even more of that tenderness in the video for the track.

Although it was directed by Spike Jonze, the visual feels more like a home movie capturing a special father-and-daughter moment. Set on a relatively gloomy day in the middle of a field, we see Kanye brimming with joy as he walks around with North.

Aside from sharing the new video, Kanye revealed why he’s been a lot calmer these days and how his family has really changed him. “I’ve learn how to shut up more,” he admitted to Ellen Degeneres. “I think I’m a better human being because of her and because of my daughter. And I always have someone to think about going home to.”

He also talks about how the past couple of years were “suffocating” for him because he was bound to only one project or brand. And now that he’s working with Adidas, he’s a much happier person.

“I was going through my version of the Terrible Twos,” said West. “My daughter, she wants to express herself but she just doesn’t have the words for it. For me, there’s so many things I want to do with film and clothing and I just didn’t have the words or the resources or the backing or the perception that I could do it being a rapper.” West also credits his Adidas deal with “allowing him some oxygen.”

And now that two new Kanye songs have dropped, Ellen had to ask about when the new album is coming out. “I don’t know yet,” he told her. “We’re still trying to find it. Trying to find the vibe,” West said. “This transition from what I felt when I did Yeezus to what I feel now, and we’re just creating, so we haven’t found it yet.”

Asics Gel Lyte III 'Miami Vice'

Titolo

While winter storm Juno didn’t hit New York City as hard as it did in other parts of the U.S., it’s still definitely got us daydreaming about crashing waves, palm trees and, most importantly, sunshine. This Asics design plays up that warm weather wanderlust by way of a simple yet effective ‘Miami Vice’ colorway.

The Asics Gel Lyte III is the model chosen to communicate this tropical message and it does so with a white leather upper and tonal embossed croc accents. A teal outsole and fluorescent orange lining are the lone pops of color and while they are sparse, they do much to provide that flamingo feel to the footwear.

In case you can’t find them at local retailers, these have surfaced at Titolo, which means you can have a little ray of sunshine shipped to your doorstep to brighten your day.

Big K.R.I.T. Weighs In on Who Should Win Best Rap Album at 2015 Grammy Awards [EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW]

Brad Barket, Getty Images

With the 2015 Grammy Awards right around the corner, artists are chiming in on one of the most highly-anticipated categories of the night: Best Rap Album.

The category, which is one of the most coveted awards in hip-hop, features Iggy Azalea, Common, Childish Gambino, Eminem, Schoolboy Q and Wiz Khalifa vying for the gold symbol of excellence.

For Big K.R.I.T., his choice for the winner is clear. “I wouldn’t mind seeing the homie Wiz get a Grammy or Common. Either one of them would be dope to see them get a Grammy,” the rapper tells The Boombox.

Krizzle and Wiz go way back — to the Taylor Gang leader’s Wake and Bake tour. The Mississippi rhymer credits Wiz for being one of the first rappers to tour and promote his own mixtapes.

“A lot of people don’t credit Wiz, but he really cranked up the “I’m going to tour off my mixtape movement” back in 2010,” The ‘Cadillactica’ rhymer said. “He was one of the first people to really start doing that hard-body. Then it was Curren$y, me, then Smoke DZA.”

Although K.R.I.T. is in his corner, Wiz has some stiff competition for Best Rap Album. Iggy’s ‘The New Classic’ boasted the No.1 chart-topping summer banger ‘Fancy.’ Childish Gambino’s sophomore album, ‘Because the Internet’ was critically acclaimed. ‘Nobody’s Smiling’ featured arguably some of Common’s best work to date. Schoolboy Q’s well-crafted lyricism and vulnerability was delivered on ‘Oxymoron’ and Eminem is going for his fifth Best Rap Album Grammy with ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2.’

The 57th Annual Grammy Awards will air on CBS Feb. 8, starting at 5PM EST at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Who do you you want to win the award for Best Rap Album? Let us know in the comments below.

'Empire' Season 1, Episode 4 Recap: Lucious Teaches Hakeem a Valuable Lesson, Cookie Brings Titan to Empire

Fox

We’re four weeks in and ‘Empire’ has yet to disappoint. With fans glued to their television screens like fiends, it seems Lee Daniels and Danny Strong are giving soap operas some steep competition.

With Lucious’ son, Jamal, deciding to walk away from the family business and his daddy’s money — at least that’s what he wants his family to think — the show’s 11 million viewers were probably wondering if he would last. And by the looks of what’s happening on this hip-hop saga, he is. However, he and his partner, Michael, are clearly struggling to make ends meet. In fact, let Jamal tell it and they’re living in an apartment too small to hold more than one socket in the wall. But he’ll never admit any of that to his father since it’s obvious he’s not the family favorite.

Speaking of favorites, you would never know Jamal and his younger brother, Hakeem, are being pit against each other as complete rivals by the way they act when they’re alone. It’s amazing what fuel parents can bring to a family fire.

With his mind focused on “thots and money,” Lucious knows he has his work cut out for him if he’s serious about grooming Hakeem to take over Empire Entertainment. To get things going, he goes after the show’s latest character, Titan, as motivation. His addition will put a few extra dollars in his company’s pockets. Ultimately, Lucious wants Hakeem to prove he’s as “bad” as Titan. People can only imagine what that line of thinking does for Hakeem’s fragile ego. But Hakeem isn’t the only one vying for Mr. Lyon’s approval.

Anika knows she has a “place” when it comes to her man, his company and her position, but it looks like she’s trying to prove she can be a big girl, too. With everyone running around trying to come up with a way to get Titan — a rapper on Empire’s rival label — on the roster, she candidly volunteers to visit the currently incarcerated rhyme slinger in jail. This way she can persuade him to dump his current contract and sign with Empire.

In other words, she’s willing to put herself in the middle of a gang war — the reason Titan’s sitting in jail in the first place — to show she can play with the big dogs. If you haven’t seen the episode yet, here’s a spoiler alert: there’s a drive-by during her meeting — Lucious is present — with Titan’s manager, and her chance to play with boys and their guns quickly comes to an end.

But Anika does do one thing right: she proves she’s more than a side chick with a job title when producers craft her character to be a loving, passionate girlfriend. She opts to shave Lucious’ face when he’s physically unable to do it for himself. How sweet.

While Anika’s chasing her tail for Lucious, Cookie is going straight to the source to pull Titan to the label: his mother. And what do you know? Empire Entertainment has a new client.

Now, for the random facts and recaps. It looks like Lucious is starting to reminisce over the soft spot he has for his ex-wife because once again, he finds himself checking someone in her honor. This time it’s their youngest son. “She’s lived through a hell that you’ll have to understand if you ever want to make music that speaks to a poetry,” he yells. Well, damn! And Tianna decides to part ways with Anika and rock with Cookie. Stayed tuned for that drama.

And finally, Naomi Campbell’s found herself a recurring role on TV. This time the super model graces the small screen by licking something off of Hakeem’s face. Tianna walks in on Hakeem and his “mama” (Camilla) in the jacuzzi tub — amateur mistake. Don’t give your girlfriend the key to your apartment, boy. Tianna handles herself like a boss when Hakeem finally shows up to sound check for the Teen Choice Awards nominations.

She said she doesn’t care about what he did with ol’ girl — she just wants him to get in there so they can “bring the house down.” While we haven’t heard anyone say, “Let’s bring the house down,” since the nerdy kid in ’10 Things I Hate About You,’ she keeps it professional.

By the way, the first rule of music is to “always take the money” — tonight’s lesson by Lucious.

T.I. and Jeezy Show Off Their Acting Chops in 'G' S—' Video

T.I. takes us back to 1960s Atlanta in his video for ‘G’ S—,’ a song featured on his latest album, ‘Paperwork.’

The Chris Robinson-directed visual, which clocks in at more than 12 minutes, kicks off with T.I.’s baptism. After wiping his slate clean of sins, the rapper heads to a closed club to talk business and some politics with Jeezy — the conversation includes “this money” and shooting “less people.”

After watching the two rappers show off their acting chops, the entertainment begins. Tip, who plays Buddy, and Jeezy, who is Slugger, go from club owners to the entertainers with a full band backing them. Each artist delivers their own swagger onstage and gives the otherwise straightforward hip-hop song some throwback flair.

Things take a serious turn when they face a gang of loan sharks who want more money. They eventually beat up and kill one of the bar’s young employees. While T.I. wants to keep things clean, it looks like they’ll need to take justice into their own hands.

Tip also serves as the executive producer of the visual. Watch the southern MC’s
