Childish Gambino Wants Artists To Embrace Rap Beefs (@DonaldGlover)

During Complex Magazine's Complex Complex concert series, headliner Childish Gambino explains why rapper's should embrace beefs.

"Sometimes I do get at people specifically..I think it's kinda wack that some rappers can't take being talked about," he said. "I think that's stupid. We're grown men, so [what if] people don't like you, who cares? That's the point. If everyone liked you, you'd be the Clay Aiken of rap."

He's already in the process of creating a follow up to his second album Because The Internet.

"I already started making new songs for the next album so I really want to push boundaries and do things no one has really done before. I think this album might do that."

After securing the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart with ‘Mastermind,’ Rick Ross celebrated with a concert performance at the 2014 SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas on Saturday (March 15). The Miami rhymer hit the stage as part of the Fader Fort lineup, which also included Erykah Badu on the bill.

The ‘Baduizm’ artist, backed by her band, performed an extremely short set but it wasn’t without any highlights. The R&B songbird pounded on the MPC while singing a few of her classic joints, including ‘On & On’ and ‘The Healer.’

At the end of her set, Badu dedicated ’Didn’t Cha Know’ to the mostly young crowd who were probably born when the song came out back in 1997. “This frequency is for you, I wrote it for y’all,” she told the audience. “And for me, too. This s— is my therapy. I love, y’all.”

We love you to Badu.

Afterward, Bun B graced the stage for a brief set. The Texas king performed a bevy of his hits including ‘Big Pimpin’ and ‘Sippin’ on Some Sizzurp.’

Then it came time for the Maybach Music Group honcho to hit the Fader Fort stage.

Backed by the 1500 or Nothin’ band, Rozay was dressed in all-black including a DGK T-shirt featuring a design of a Kangol hat and dookie gold rope chain.

Ross kicked off his set with ‘Devil Is a Lie’ from his latest album, ‘Mastermind.’ The 38-year-old rapper performed several tracks from the LP, including ‘Sanctified,’ ‘Thug Cry’ and ‘War Ready.’

But Ross also rapped several tunes from his expansive catalog. Highlights included ‘Hustlin’,’ ‘BMF,’ ‘John,’ ’9 Piece,’ ‘I’m One On’ and Ace Hood’s ‘Bugatti.’

And before Ross performed ‘Nobody,’ his re-working of Notorious B.I.G.‘s classic song, the rapper gave R.I.P. shout-outs to Biggie, Tupac Shakur and the late Texas rhymer Pimp C, which was a nice touch.

Rozay even stepped aside to let two rap young’uns get their shine on at the Fader Fort stage — rappers Tracy T and Fat Trel.
