Suge Knight Says YG Leads the Pack of New West Coast Rappers (@yg, @sugeknight)

Over the last three years, it can be argued that the West Coast has had a Hip-Hop renaissance. With artists like Kendrick Lamar, SchoolBoy Q, Ab-Soul, Jay-Rock, Tyler the Creator, Kid Ink, Problem, Tyga, Ty-Dolla $ign, Sage the Gemini and several others taking over national and international Hip-Hop conversations, there certainly has been a shift towards the west.

Former Death Row CEO Suge Knight told BET.com that he feels "My Hitta" rapper YG is the leader of the pack because he's the most authentic among them.

"YG is in a class by himself [when it comes to] new West Coast artists," noted Suge. "I think the difference is that, some people have a script, some people have a motive. They turn around and say, 'OK, I'ma be from this neighborhood and I'm going to represent this neighborhood because I'm trying to get on as a rapper.' YG really represent that s**t."

Despite the success of Kendrick Lamar and even Game, Knight also says YG is the only rapper really representing Compton.

"YG really pushing 'Bompton.' Other than that I can't think of one Compton rapper [doing the same], even if it's Game," said Suge. "Game in an article saying that he's a 'former' gang member. You're not old enough to really be a gang member yet you say you're a 'former' gang member. YG is a guy that, he represent his music, he represents the city. YG is the only one that made it that has not bowed down and showed he had panties."

Do you think YG is the best artist out of Cali right now?

Flavor Flav Guilty of Threatening to Stab Teen (@flavorflav)

Hip-Hop veteran and reality TV star Flavor Flav has pleaded guilty to reduced charges of domestic violence for threatening the 17-year-old son of his current girlfriend.

The 55-year-old rapper acknowledged Monday in court that he wielded a kitchen knife during an October 2012 argument with the teen, and has accepted misdemeanor charges of attempted battery that could have substantially injured and battery constituting domestic violence.

These charges were reduced from felony assault and child endangerment with a weapon, which could have gotten him up to 12 years. Flav is now looking to avoid a trial and jail time altogether.

50 Cent Is After the Money on 'Hustler'

HustlerG-Unit

After the hubbub around ‘Love & Hip Hop’ dies down and the season premieres, hip-hop fans will have 50 Cent‘s ‘Animal Ambition’ to look forward to. Singles like ‘Hustler’ should only increase the anticipation.

50 Cent rides on Jake One’s wobbly keys and marching percussion to return to his Queens-bred hustling mindset. The conscientious, introspective rapper isn’t here, but the perpetually flossing Fiddy is and he comes with glee.

Although ‘Hustler’ is standard in its hook-verse formula, 50 Cent is as street-minded as he’s been with recent tracks. This is more about flourishing then being threatening, even though 50 Cent still mentions he’s still wearing the bulletproof vest on the outro.

‘Animal Ambition,’ 50 Cent’s first album since leaving Interscope, arrives June 3.

The reactions ranged from pure hate to a Kanye West shrug. “Kid cudi a thot for wearing a crop top to Coachella,” wrote one person on Twitter. Another commenter didn’t see what the brouhaha was all about. “Y’all acting like Kid Cudi in a crop top is revolutionary when Prince was rocking crops almost 30 years ago. #Please,” she tweeted.

Based on Cudi’s previous fashion statements, wearing a crop top and skinny-jean shorts isn’t too far from his normal style.

The question that everyone is asking now: Will Cudi’s crop top become a summer fashion trend?
