Lord Jamar: I Represent Hip Hop Conservatives (@lordjamar)

In an indepth interview with The New Yorker, Brand Nubian rapper Lord Jamar explains his blueprint on Hip Hop, why it's losing it's way and his feeling on representing the 'conservatives' in the genre.

Over the past year, the rapper has been vocal about his views on the current direction of Hip Hop. Jamar says that he's a representative of what many don "old school' and wants to perseve the culture as much as he can.

"I'm that voice of what hip-hop used to be," Jamar he said. "I think I represent the hip-hop conservatives. And I use the word 'conservative' in the sense of conservation: I'm trying to conserve hip-hop and its essence."

Jamar has stated his dilike of the sound to the look of that the genre represents today. His comments of Kanye West's kilt were buzzworthy along with his disgust for Macklemore. Througout his interview, he makes it clear that pushing the bar is important, but there have to be limits.

"I have no problems with pushing boundaries," he said. "But everything has its limits. How far do you go with this pushing of boundaries before you've turned it into something else? That's what I want to know. How much water can you add into the whiskey before you no longer get drunk?"

Jamar also mentions that soon Hip Hop will be owned by people who damaged the cultures of Jazz and Rock & Roll; genres that have Black roots but were made popular by other races.

"At the end of the day, it's another hijacking of the genre, which we've seen in history time and time again," he said. "Look, it happened in rock and roll. It happened with jazz. Twenty years from now, we're gonna have the equivalent of Kenny G rapping. Because Kenny G is jazz now! So we're gonna have some Kenny G-type rappers, and it's gonna be a white dude with balding hair, in a suit, doing it at the lounge in Vegas."

Jay Electronica Releases 'We Made It' Freestyle with Jay Z

While everyone was sleeping, Jay Electronica released a freestyle track featuring Jay Z. The two J’s jacked the Soulja Boy-produced beat that Drake rapped over for ‘We Made It’ and lyrically killed it.

What’s so refreshing about this freestyle is that Jay Elect and Hov are not rapping bulls— lyrics. The rap duo aims their lyrical vitriol to the naysayers who think they are irrelevant in the rap game. Rappers beware, this dynamic duo are not playing any games.

On the first verse, Jay Electronica spit religious and slavery themes while addressing the critics.

“The devil, the haters, the bloggers, the papers, the labels, they label me / They can’t relate to our struggle, my n—-, we came up from slavery,” he raps. “Roc Nation / Celebration / Motivation / Elevation / N—-, we made it / From slaves on the slave ship / Live from the cotton fields, straight to the spaceship.”

Then Jay Z steps in and addresses Drake’s recent critique of him. Apparently, the Toronto rapper feels that Hov can’t drop any real bars anymore unless it’s about art.

Well, he’s dead wrong.

“Sorry Mr. Drizzy for so much I talk / Silly me for rapping about s— that I really bought / While these rappers rap about guns they ain’t shot / And a bunch of other silly s— they ain’t got,” spits Jay. “N—- watch your tone / I come to court with black boxers on / Y’all hella jealous of my mellow tone / And I can black out at any given moment, I’m God.”

Watch what you say Drake, King Hov just gave you a warning shot.

Overall, this is a superb freestyle and it’s good to hear Jay Z return to his lyrical flow of his Jigga Man days.

Forget about a Jay Electronica solo album, we are now praying for a Jay and Jay collaborative album — ala ‘Watch the Throne.’

Press play and listen to the duo’s freestyle. Woo! They killed it.

Jay Electronica Drops 'We Made It' Remix With Jay Z (@S_C @JayElectronica)

It looks like we're getting closer and closer to a Jay Electronica album.

The rapper made headlines during SXSW when released the surprise track "Better In Tune/The Infinite" featuring LonTonya Givens. Now, the rapper along with Jay Z hop on Drake's "We Made It" for some memorable bars.

Electronica sends the song out to his fans who have patiently waiting for his return. Mr. Carter also takes jabs at Drizzy after the rapper made comments about Jay's taste in art during his Rolling Stone interview in February. Electronica and his mentor have collaborated in the past, with 2010's "Shiny Suit Theory."

Nicki Minaj: I'm Creating A Classic Album Right Now (@nickiminaj)

While Nicki Minaj's last studio album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded drew heavy criticism for its pop-leaning material, Minaj is now in the studio crafting her new album, The Pink Print, and promising that it will be nothing short of a classic.

She told Complex, when it comes to her side deals like fragrances and clothing, she's putting them on the back burner: "I'm just working on the album. Nothing is gonna take precedence over that, nothing matters to me more than creating a classic album right now. All of that can wait. I don't care about none of that. We at home, working it out."

Nicki's latest verses like the "Boss A** B***h" and "Danny Glover" freestyles, as well as her single "Lookin' A** N***a" have been praised as her return to her more street, mixtape roots.

Do you expect a classic out of Nicki this time around?

New York Jets Sign Michael Vick, Dump Mark Sanchez (@mikevick)

New York Jets fans may have something to celebrate next season. They've just confirmed that they've let go of one-time favorite Mark Sanchez to make room for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick for a 1-year deal.

The 5 million dollar move comes as Geno Smith is currently starter for the team. Sanchez was on his way to starting for the 2013-14 season but was injured in the Jets last preseason game last summer. Vick has also had an injury-plagued career, but says he's ready to compete for that starter position, while humbly playing the backup role in the mean time.

"I wouldn't say I would be O.K. sitting on the bench all year, but I know what I signed up for," Vick said as reported by the New York Times. "I signed to compete and be a helping hand to Geno."

How do you feel about this move?
