Tweens Stab Friend 19 Times Over 'Slender Man' Internet Meme

In Waukesha, Wisconsin, two 12-year-old girls are currently being charged with attempted murder after trying to kill their friend at a sleepover in hopes to see the fictional Internet meme Slender Man.

According to CNN, the tweens, Morgan E. Geyser and Anissa E. Weier, planned the attack months before the stabbing after reading up on their Internet obsession. Slender Man is a fictional character from horror sites on the web. The story goes that if a person commits a crime in the name of Slender Man, he will appear.

The girls lured their victim into the woods after the sleepover and stabbed her 19 times. The victim was stabbed in her heart, lungs, and other organs. She was able to crawl out of the woods and gained the attention of a cyclist. She is currently in stable condition.

The tweens say that they feel no remorse for what they did and are glad she lived, but also wanted her to die so they could see their favorite character.

Both girls are being held on $500,000 bail. If convicted, they face over 60 years in prison.
