Compton Mayor Aja Brown has reached out to the pride of the city, Dr. Dre, and offered him a key, according to TMZ.
Brown explained that Dre's entrepreneurial spirit should be celebrated, and offering him a key to the city would be a way to recognize his prowess not only as a musician but as a businessman, with his recent billion dollar Beats deal a sure catalyst.
She also intends to discuss the possibility of Dre helping to restore the city, with hopes of the doctor sponsoring performance arts and music programs in schools and recreational centers. Whether he agrees or not, Brown says the key is his for the taking.
He'd be the second behind legendary West Coast producer DJ Quik to receive the honor.
