Kid Cudi vs. Snootie Wild – The Boombox Battle

Kid Cudi Snootie WildThe Boombox

With more than 85 percent of the fan vote, Kid Cudi takes the win in this week’s Boombox Battle. The victory against Wale’s “The White Shoes” is Cudder’s third consecutive rise to the top in the competition.

Spending more time on movie sets than in studio booths these days, the Cleveland native returns to the mic with his latest song, “Love.” He laments about loneliness but sounds triumphant by the time he reaches the hook on the track, which samples Ratatat’s “Sunblocks.”

“Don’t be so down, come on young homie / You’ll be okay, you’ll find real love / All of the stories the hero gets lonely, now is the time to show all you’re made of,” he delivers.

The next artist to go against Cudi is Snootie Wild. The Memphis rapper’s new effort, “Play Wit a Brick,” finds him spitting over an aggressive beat. He’d rather work hard and focus on making cash than be occupied with women. The song is a strong follow-up to his breakout hit “Yayo” and is off his upcoming mixtape, Ain’t No Stopping Me, hosted by DJ Drama.

“You n—-s a trip, you need to get you a grip / Bitches they never come over my guap, forever finesse out of naught / It really don’t matter or not, still gonna f— on the spot / Package up after drop, bitch get out of my spot,” Snootie raps.

Will Kid Cudi’s heartfelt song win again and make him the next Boombox Battle Hall of Fame inductee? Or will Snootie Wild’s take-no-prisoners flow move him to the top? Now it’s time for you to choose. Go vote for your favorite song in the poll below. Remember, you can vote once per hour until the poll closes on Tues., April 14, at 10AM ET.
