Mary J. Blige has been busy lately. After stopping by New York Fashion Week on Monday (Feb. 10), the songstress headed down to Washington, D.C., to attend and perform at the state dinner in the White House to welcome the president of France Tuesday (Feb. 11).

With husband and manager, Kendu Isaacs, by her side, Blige looked elegant in a floor-length fitted red gown at the beginning of the evening. She then changed into a white and silver-embellished gown during her performance.

According to reports, there was no dancing at the event. This was to avoid the fact that President Francois Hollande went stag to the event. So we’re thinking Mary J. probably stuck to ballads rather than fast-paced tracks, and from the looks of the photos, she went with her emotional and soulful repertoire.

During the dinner, guests were served dry-aged rib eye beef, American caviar and a salad with ingredients from First Lady Michelle Obama’s garden. Attendees also had the option of wines from California, Virginia and Washington state.
