Da Brat‘s violent attack on a waitress in an Atlanta nightclub in 2007 is costing her big bucks.

TMZ reports that the rapper was in court Thursday (Feb. 27) for a civil trial regarding a lawsuit filed against her by Shayla Stevens, a former waitress at Studio 72, a club owned by producer Jermaine Dupri. Stevens, also a former Atlanta Falcons cheerleader, sued the 39-year-old entertainer in 2007, for hitting her in the face with a bottle, which left a deep laceration on her cheek, according to reports.

A jury found Da Brat, born Shawntae Harris, responsible for causing Stevens’ permanent facial scarring, neurological impairment and severe mental pain. She must now pay the victim $6.4 million. Initially, the rhymer was ordered to cough up $3.7 million. An additional $2.7 million has been added by the jury as additional punishment for Da Brat’s actions.

In 2007, Brat plead guilty to felony aggravated assault for the attack. As a result, she was sentenced to three years behind bars, seven years probation and 200 hours of community service. The ‘Funkdafied’ creator was released from prison in May 2010.

Considering she hasn’t released an album since 2003′s ‘Limelite, Luv & Niteclubz,’ it will be interesting to find out how Da Brat will cover the hefty price tag set by the jury.
