Childish Gambino Says Hook To '3005' Was Almost On 'Trophies' (@DonaldGlover @Drake)

Childish Gambino recently chatted with BBC's Zane Lowe to talk about his Deep Web Tour, his latest album and how the hook to his hit "3005" almost ended up on Drake's "Trophies."

When praised for his concept album Because The Internet, Gambino says that he wanted to make an album that people would experience as a hold, rather than hit singles.

"If you build a world people come to it," he says. He also mentions that he doesn't know how to make hits like his single "3005."

"That was the last song we did on the album...we all liked it but then we fell out of love with it and then I added some verses. Hit Boy was in the studio and he heard me sing the hook and he was like 'that's a good hook, you should put that on something." It was then that he was given the "Trophies beat but decided to pass on it.

"He gave me that Trophies beat, and I sang the hook [to 3005] over the [build up] and then I was like I don't know if that feels right, and then he gave it to Drake and then Drake made it awesome." Both artists ended up with hits, so he believes everyone won.

"Everyone's a winner, we made a different song and it was great."

Do you think he made the right move?
